Comment: Hello I have 2 questions. 1. I bought Office 2007 Enterprise and would like to know what files I need. Like with windows you can copy the CAB files to the local machine so that the Windows CD is no longer needed when updating the Operating system. Well I would like to do something like this with the Office 2007. I am creating an image for several hundred machines and would like to know which CAB files or other files from the office 2007 CD I would need to copy on the local machine. 2. Is there a registry setting i need to set for the office CAB files? Like for windows I had to change the source path string from D:\I386 to C:\I386. Does anyone know what string in the registry i would need to adjust for office to look for the CAB files I copy to the local machine? BTW I am using Windows XP Pro Thanks in advance.

Reply: (edit)Why not just create a folder called Office07 and copy the contents of the CD there? Then create an MSI file to run whatever custom install you want. Do you have a server? If so, place the files in a folder on the server, then run the install using that install point. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Hi Jen, thanks for your responce. The server bit wont work too well as the bandwidth between each of our branches is very slow and the servers have very limited space. And i dont want to copy the entire CD on to the drive. Because someone could just burn the folder on to a CD and go in the registry and obtain the product key from the registry. Our users arent that intelligent but you never know. What if I were to copy just the CAB files on the local machine from the Office CD, would that be all i need or would i also need the msi files?
