Hello I have 2 questions.
1. I bought Office 2007 Enterprise and would like to know what files I need. Like with windows you can copy the CAB files to the local machine so that the Windows CD is no longer needed when updating the Operating system. Well I would like to do something like this with the Office 2007. I am creating an image for several hundred machines and would like to know which CAB files or other files from the office 2007 CD I would need to copy on the local machine.
2. Is there a registry setting i need to set for the office CAB files? Like for windows I had to change the source path string from D:\I386 to C:\I386. Does anyone know what string in the registry i would need to adjust for office to look for the CAB files I copy to the local machine?
BTW I am using Windows XP Pro
Thanks in advance.

Why not just create a folder called Office07 and copy the contents of the CD there? Then create an MSI file to run whatever custom install you want.
Do you have a server? If so, place the files in a folder on the server, then run the install using that install point.
Life's more painless for the brainless.

Hi Jen, thanks for your responce.
The server bit wont work too well as the bandwidth between each of our branches is very slow and the servers have very limited space.
And i dont want to copy the entire CD on to the drive. Because someone could just burn the folder on to a CD and go in the registry and obtain the product key from the registry.
Our users arent that intelligent but you never know.
What if I were to copy just the CAB files on the local machine from the Office CD, would that be all i need or would i also need the msi files?

Actually i found a bit of text at Microsoft that says it copies all the source files to the drive its installed on in a hidden folder.
Here is the link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924...
This is what i was wondering about. But its exactly what i was looking for.
Thanks Jen for the responce though.
