My outlook displays the following when trying to open..."Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. the server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists." I have removed the OUTCMD.DAT file and it still would not open. History- I had google redirect virus, but have since gotten rid of it. Since cleanup, I am experiencing this difficulty with outlook. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Zuko

Are you running Outlook stand-alone client, or are you connecting to an Exchange Server? If stand-alone, is your pst file intact?

It is just me on my home computer, so I am assuming it is stand alone. How do I check if the pst are in tact?

Go to Control Panel, Mail, Data Files. Look at the location of your default Mail Delivery file. Then, go into Windows Explorer and see if the file is in that location. You may have to enable hidden files to see it.
Did you recently reload anything or change accounts/profiles?

I had a virus, and was messing around with a few things. I am sure I could've did something wrong. When i go to open the pst file after browsing to it from control panel, it allows me to choose an "open with" option, and Office does not come up on the list. I am going to try and reload office and see if it lets me reload without compromising my old emails.
Thank you for your help.

You don't double-click on that file to open it. How large is it? If you're looking at the one that Outlook is using, and it's not opening, then the file is corrupt.
Search for other pst files on your hard drive.
