Ok, We have had office 2003 on our 3 office PC's since 2003. We now have clients with office 2007 docs and spreadsheets. We upgraded to office 2007 but we opted to keep 2003 on the PC's because we prefer the interface to that of the 07 product. We did not install the new version of outlook, we opted to keep 2003 indefinitely.

The issue:
Since we installed 2007 every time we open outlook office automates a conversion process that configures office 2007 for the email client. But even if you allow it to complete the process, which takes about a minute and a half, it continues to do it every time it opens outlook. We have found a setting under tools>options that allows us to specify whether or not outlook 03 would specifically use word 2003 for its text editing. We have tried this option checked and unchecked and it continue either way.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advanced.

Your post is confusing (to me.) If you upgraded to Office 2007 but kept 2003, which version are you using, and if you want to use 2003 because you prefer that interface, why bother upgrading?

You said "Since we installed 2007 every time we open outlook office automates a conversion process that configures office 2007 for the email client." Do you mean the message is prompting for configuration of Outlook 2007 for the mail client?

A little more detail would be very helpful.

You can run (although not very smoothly), both versions of Excel, Word, and Access, but NOT Outlook.

If you're not going to use any of the Office 2007 apps, then completely uninstall the suite until you're ready to upgrade.

The reason we need 07 is because there are some of our clients that use 07 and when they send us documents we need to be able to read them. So then why not use word 07 document reader, you ask? Because it is not convenient to read something and not be able to edit it.

As for your question about the email client. We did not install outlook 07. We prefer 03. We just installed Word and Excel 07 so we could read any of the docs or clients are sending us. So to further specify, we are using 07 products. We only use them when need be, otherwise we will continue to use 03 for our daily needs.

Do you have any suggestions based on the information i gave now?

I'm not familiar with the Word 07 Document reader. My recommendation based on the info you've provided; completely uninstall Office 2007. Download and install the Office 2007 compatibility pack. You can then open and manipulate the files that were saved in the new file formats.

Then, when you're finally ready to upgrade everyone to 2007, uninstall the compatibility pack and proceed with the 2007 install, which will allow for the uninstall of 2003 without running a separate uninstall of that version.

Just my opinion as to the best course of action...
