I have Norton SystemWorks 2004. I need help with a couple of problems... 1. It keeps restarting, " due to disk write". I've shut down everyting I can find, and still have the problem. 2. When I try to start it from "Safe Mode", as I should be able to do, according to Symantec, I get a message, "designed to run in normal mode". I have also tried running it in Dos, no luck.
3. on occasion, when using "Speed Disk" I get a message..."BACKUP contains illegal long file name entries". Then it sends me to "Disk Doctor" to correct that problem, then I'm back to the restarting problems. Did I by the wronge product? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you ignore the "designed to run in normal mode" I can with Norton Utilities 4.5. If my disk is really sick disk doctor sometimes restarts 40 or 50 times but each time gets a little further until eventually completing the task. Have you tried leaving it for ages? Also have you also disabled any screen savers as this often is over looked.
