No return spacing

Specs: Macintosh
Formatting text within a cell. tried Alt + Return but it simply jumps to next cell

I have no idea what your trying to do.

To format a cell, right click and Format Cells

Alt + Return should do this:

Entering Hello There in a cell would display:

Hello There

Entering Hello Alt + Return There should display:

I understand that the ALT+RETURN places a newline character in the string,
the part I was unsure about was the statement:

Formatting text within a cell

Formatting to me means more then simply inserting a newline char.
But, I could be mistaken.
Have been before.

Thanks for the advice but as soon as I hit the return bar after the alt key it takes the cursor to the next cell before have a chance to type next word................maybe a shortcut issue??

hit the return bar after the alt key

It not after it's while

Type your first word
Then hold down the ALT key and press the Enter Key while you hold down the ALT key.

I just noticed your using a Mac....
