NO Operating System Error

Hello,
I have a computer that was given to me, but when i turn it on....I get a black screen after it boots up that says there is no operating system. I tried to load a cd that has the windows suite on it, but the computer is not recognizing the cd. Can someone advise as to what to do?

First of all, was this computer working for you before or did you receive it in this condition?
Check your BIOS settings to make sure that booting from a CD is enabled. Also check the BIOS and the POST screens to make sure that the disk drives in this machine (primarily the hard drive and the CD drive) are detected.

Right. Do you know for sure that it indeed does have an OS? Did you ask the seller? What's the manufacturer/model of it?
