Solved New Files, briefcase or word doc

Specs: Windows Vista
what is the difference of having files, a briefcase or just adding a new Microsoft word document to your documents.
At the moment when I want to add another document to my doc file I just add a Microsoft word doc to the list.
Is there an advantage to having one more than the others?

Saving files to "My Documents" folder is fine if you only have one computer.

The Briefcase feature is used when you have two computers and you want to synchronise your files between them (so both computers have the same files):

Of course, you don't have to use Briefcase to achieve that. You could simply do it manually if you want, using a pen drive or other removable storage device.

In addition, you could save the files to a shared location on either computer, assuming that both computers are accessible (to each other) on a network.

This won't create a backup so if you lose the computer that holds the shared location, you'd lose the documents, but you should have some sort of backup strategy regardless of what method you use to store your documents, be they shared or not.
