"opens up blank"

Is the screen grey or white?

If white then do as rhawk7938 stated.

If grey then you likely have it set with a switch to NOT open a new worksheet.

Quoting
For example, if you want Excel to start without creating a new workbook, and the Excel.exe file is installed in the default location, type the following in the Target box:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /e
End of quote

Thank you, it was no of the above fixes, i just had to delete her local profile and it works fine now, it was very strange. I log into her computer under my profile and excel opened up fine no. So figured its a corrupt profile.

Thanks
