Using Outlook 2000 SP3 at work connected to Exchange (version Unknown). Everyone in the office has no problem except me. New emails are not showing in my inbox until I open an exisiting email (the new ones then appear in the background) or if I change to a different folder and then back to Inbox again. Any reason for this? I am using no rules whatsoever!

Basically before doing anything else, just recreate your profile on your machine and test it if you still have the same pb, create your profile on your colleague's machine where everything is working fine. I you have the same pb then you should escalate this issue to your Exchange Admin who should check your profile parameters on the exchange server. Otherwise, let me know, I can help you with other troubleshooting.
PS: Did you personnalized your view ?

I have the same thing. On my laptop, connected to the network, I have to switch between e-mails or folders before my new mail arrives. Clicking on Send/Receive does not work. On my PC, there is no issue.
All laptops on our network have this issue. We have rebuilt, recreated, redone profiles, SPs, updates, etc. No dice. We are running Win 2000 Prof., Office 2000, Exchange 2000, everything 2000. All updated, etc.
The laptops are Dells and are all seated in a docking station.
This has been going on for months.

We are having the same problem with one PC on the network. Though, I have had this problem with other PC's in the past but they seem to have fixed themselves. We are running pretty much the same config as the gentleman above. 2000 everything. I know I've seen a KB article on Microsoft's website but I can't recall what terms I used to search. (Side note: is it just me or is searching Microsofts KB the most irratating thing a tech could ever have to do. I put in terms like "new email not showing" and I get articles on Movie Maker 2.2. What a pain.)
Anyway, this is related to TCP (or was it UDP) packets coming from the server which arent doing something or other at the client. I know it's not much help but using it in a search on Google may turn something up. I'm going to keep looking and will let you folks know what I find.

I think I found the article you guys are looking for on MS KB... its 319572
Just do a search on the KB number.
Exchange 2000 Server cannot register outlook new mail notifications.
I'm currently having the same problems I hope this works????
