network excel file(Office2000)

hi, i have file stored in our server an excel file. and i access it in my local machine to update my file but when i save it error says"Document not saved.".i dont know what happened. and i tried to copy the file into my local machine stil i got same error when i save my changes... thanks for the help!

If the file is on the server it may be a read only version.
Check the Blue status bar at the top. If says the file name - Read Only, you'll have to get the creator of the file to give you permission to update the file.
Today seems like a good day to chew through the restraints.
