Need a sumif formula

Specs: Windows XP

I have the following spreadsheet where the information is automatically pulled from a database. It sums the total by Month but then it sums it twice by employee name and employee ID. I need a formula that will sum the column only with the numbers in it and not twice by employee name and employee ID.

For example, in the table below, the first name is PIG, PORKY. I need a formula that say if the row has the word total it in, do not sum it. But sum rows without it. Can someone help me?

As for your question, have tried something like this?

=SUMIF(B1:B10, "<>Total", C1:C10)
