Specs: Macintosh
I have a spreadsheet full of daily sales info listed by item. Each row has an item #, transaction ID, and gross sale amount. I would like to create a macro that will total all the sales with the same transaction ID in a separate column. Using Excel 15 on a Mac but can switch to PC if necessary, any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Dealing with a really clunky POS that does not export to excel directly so am working around, I can't get the source report sorted by transaction.

I'm not sure that you need a macro. I can't see your spreadsheet from where I am sitting, but have you considered this method?

1 - Use the Advanced Filter feature to create a list of unique transaction ID's

2 - In the next column, use the SUMIF function to total all sales for each unique ID.

If that won't work, you'll need to explain why by supplying more detail regarding the layout of your sheet. If a macro is needed, then we are going to need the layout detail anyway.
