Solved MS Works 7 Word Processor stopped working & Won't Paste Text

November 24, 2013 at 23:53:11
Specs: Windows 7, 4 GB
For some reason, now my word processor (MS Works 7) won't allow even a tiny bit of text to be copied and pasted.

I get this message:

Microsoft Works Word Processor has stopped working.
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
>Check online for a solution and close program
>Close the program
View problem details

I have no clue as to how I can fix this -- would greatly appreciate some help on this.

Thanks very much

Re-install Microsoft Works. There's no need to uninstall it. Just run the installer and accept the default installation path as before.

Thanks -- hope I can do this. As I got the system from a friend, will contact her re installation disks.

If she doesn't have the installation disks, anyway you know of to get them?

Not sure these are option for Works, but you can check and see.

Check and see if Works has a Detect & Repair option.

On the Task Bar,
Select Help
Select Detect & Repair

You might also be able to do a Repair from Add or Remove Programs.

Go to Control Panel
Select Add or Remove Programs
Select Microsoft Works
Select Change
Select Repair

Thanks for submitting some ideas.
Works has NO Detect & Repair option, not under Help or anywhere!
You can't do anything but uninstall a program on the Programs & Features.

On another site, I was advised to not bother with Works as they feel it is a poor substitute for Word. I was advised to look for the free download of Open Office. A friend of mine who knows a lot of computer stuff said Open Office is a very good program.

So thanks everyone, but I guess it's on to looking for Open Office.
