MS Word shuts down while typing

When using MS Word (2002) from Office XP, it often shuts my computer down, but it seems to be only when I am typing too fast. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly when it shuts down, but it is always while typing. Same problem with another keyboard, so I can only conclude it is the software...? Is the problem familiar to anyone, and do you have any solutions?
