Comment:

I accidentally pressed some hot-key similar to copy+paste, and now I have these permanent dots and Paragraph symbols all over the place. I exited the document, opened a new one, but they start to appear while typing. I restarted my computer and tried again. Same thing. I googled around and found nothing.

Anybody know how to disable these weird symbols from showing up while I type?

Thanks!

I don't see any "Weird" symbols. What I see is formatting marks. Spaces and paragraph marks to be exact. Perhaps that's what you're referring to?

In Word, go to Tools, Options, View, and look at what's checked under "Formatting Marks."

If you don't want to see them, uncheck those items.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

While Ms. Sumn's suggestion will certainly work, save yourself some steps and just click on that backward looking P next to the Zoom value (e.g. 130%). I can see by the image you posted that Show/Hide Formatting marks has been enabled.

Thank you jennifer and derby! I tried derby's quick approach and it worked.
