MS Word 2000 will not open

When I try to open Word, it acts as though it is going to open but then just hangs there. All of my other programs open. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Word. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this. Thanks!!!!!!!!!1

It could be a bad Add-in stopping it.
Click on your Word icon to open Word but immediately hold down the Shift key to bypass any add-ins from starting up.
If this works then post back if you need to know how to get rid of the add-ins.

I am having the same problem. If you have solved the problem please let me know. It started when I was trying to open up an attachment to e-mail. I thought it was a virus, so I ran the virus scan. Nothing came up with a virus. I also tried to hold down the shift key but it did not help.. thanks!!!!
