I've purchased a computer and I received MS Office 2000 small business edition software with the computer system, but the package was opened...I have no idea if this software has been used....is there a way I can enter in my product key code somewhere, website etc....and test the product key code out to see if the Product key has been registered or will I have to call Microsoft directly? Thanks for you help! Eric

Is it possible the package was opened because they needed the disc to install the software on the computer?

Go to the Office Update site and try to update the software.
It will tell you if the product needs registered or whether the software is bootleg.
If you are allowed to update without a message telling you to register, then your software is already registered.
Do not be afraid to contact M$. They cannot eat you no matter if your software is illegal or not registered. It is a free conversation so you will not be out any money.
