Missing email after HD upgrade

On Dec 28 I upgraded my HD from a SATA 160 Gb to a SATA 300 Gb HD. The upgrade is a Seagate, and I used their software to copy the old drive to the new drive "as is." It went pretty smoothly, except all my Office 2003 software gave me an error message when I tried to open it. I didn't have time to mess with it until Dec 30, when I found out what the trouble was and reinstalled the whole Office suite, including Outlook. The problem is I didn't get ANY email on the 28th and 29th--not even spam, which is suspect, and not any of the test emails I sent myself. After I reinstalled MS Office, I started getting spam (oh yay), and email from my service provider's useless help desk. I'm wondering where my emails might have gone during those two days--would a corrupted Outlook start a new mail file of some sort under a different name, or what?

It might be a good idea to search for OST and PST files on your hard disk.
If Outlook did fail and setup a new file, you can be sure it's one of these extensions, and it is possible stored in \Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Microsoft\Outlook.
Run a search on your OS/Office hard disk(s) and try to find *.OST or *.PST
