microsoft works word processor

Specs: Windows 7

Just received my computer 2 months ago and I noticed a problem with Microsoft Works Word Processor. I can't copy and paste some things and it will give me a message saying that there was a problem with the program. I also noticed something else. I make folders for all my stuff and then when I write something I safe it into this folder. This happened to me now 3 times when I open the folder and go into the work I wrote it's gone after it was saved. A box would come up telling me its already open and its not. This is so frustrating. Does this mean this program is corrupted?

When saving a file do you save, or save as? Save as will allow you to change the default path. Once you do that your desired path should appear as the first choice. You still need to save as though. Once a file has been saved then subsequent changes in the document can be saved to the same path by simply using the save command or keystroke.

Ok I do the same on my new computer as I did with my older computer who used windows xp. I go into windows explorer and make a file like I named one Letters to my parents since I write letters on my computer. Then what I do is open microsoft works word processor which I didn't have on my old computer. I did have microsoft word. Anyway after I write the letter I open the folder I made and when it opend it is called untitled document if I remember correct. I change the letter to Letters to Parents and I safe it into this folder. Later when I go back I go to this folder and click on it. When it opens the name I gave the letter is there but for some reason everything I wrote is gone. I know I didn't delete it but where does it go? Same happened to me now with 2 other things I have written.

"folder I made and when it opened it is called untitled document if I remember correct"

The default folder for works should be in documents and settings under your profile. Look there for the files. You are using the save command, not save as.

As I stated above, you need to save as, in order to change the default path where the document will be saved. I would guess all your letters are probably in a folder in documents somewhere.

Have you tried doing a Search of your hard drive for any *.wps files?
Works saves documents with the extension .wps.
