Not exactly an MS-Office question, but this is the closest forum I could match it to:

We've just upgraded from MS-Works 4, we had a mail merge document that was links to a works database of 3800 records, in works 4, the mail merge was fairly instantaneous.

Now we have MS-Works 8 and the mail merge function now takes a good 5 minutes rather than being immediate.

Is it a problem with the new version? We thought it might possibly be that on the original version, works used the file directly so therefore was instant and the new version uses the file after it's imported it.
