Microsoft Word Drop down box calculations

May 5, 2009 at 07:10:34
Specs: Windows XP
I have completed a form in microsoft word and I have inserted tables. In those tables I have placed a drop down box by which the end user must choose a selection of 1-4. At the end of multiple drop down box selections I want an average of all answers. I have given each cell a bookmark name as S1, S2, and so on. I enter a formula in the cell where I want the average. I use =sum(s1,s2,s3)/3 but I keep getting a syntax error. How do I get the format the dropdowns as a number and then calculate the averages without this error?

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

I'm not very familiar with doing math in Word, but I do know that there is an AVERAGE( ) function.
