Microsoft setup bootstrapper has stopped working.

May 24, 2012 at 01:53:43
Specs: Windows Vista

When I try to run one of my Microsoft office professional plus 2010 programs I get an error message that reads:

Microsoft setup boots-trapper had stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working corectly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

There is one button on the pop up that says close program.

Once I click mentioned button i get another error message that reads:

Microsoft office professional plus 2010 cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. the application will now shut down.

I also tried to unistall it and I receive the first error message I mentioned. Once I click the button all the windows for un-installation close.

I have tried backing up everything and reinstalling windows and I have also done a system restore to a point that I knew no errors were occuring and the problem just carries over. I searched the web as well but all I could find were these really complicated sulutions that I decided not to try for fear of making the problem worse.

Any help will be completely appericiated.

Uninstall Office again and try installing it from a different CD/DVD drive.

If that's not possible, copy the entire Office CD contents to your hard drive and run setup from there.

"Microsoft office professional plus 2010 cannot verify the license for this application".

The above message indicates MSoft feels you are running an illegal installation of MS Office 2010.

Did you register the installation?

Do you have the same copy of Office installed on more than one computer?

I can't do anything with the program, not even uninstall it.

I did register it and it was working fine up until a couple of days ago. I only have one computer so, no I don't have it installed on multiple computers

Download Ccleaner Portable and run both the cleaner AND registry modules. When the registry module asks, save a backup to the desktop and then allow it to do its thing. Get it below.

@ othehill - I did what you said and it still does the same thing,

I double click one of the programs and the installer window pops up and then the error messages mentioned above pop up and i have to close out of everything.

Delete Microsoft Office files from within Windows Explorer and then run Ccleaner again.

I assume you have installation disks for Office?
