hi,
i opened up Microsoft Outlook XP today, and in my inbox, a period of 6 months of emails had gone missing along with a few contacts which i had!
i've looked at the archive file, and i'll it doesn't is bring a couple of emails back from before i lost the chunk of emails....
Archiving my emails takes them from todays date back, and doesn't just take a chunk out of the middle of all my emails....why would this be...
any suggestions?
thank you for your help :o)

Do you know how to recover deleted mail?
You can see if they're in there. If not, here's how.
Send email to delete box, delete the email.
In tools select recover deleted mail (this only works in Outlook not outlook express)
When it redirects you, see if the lost email is there.
If it ain't broke upgrade it!!!

I have outlook at work on a win2000 system.
I only have OE at home.
To answer your question, I really don't know as I only learned about it around 1 year ago.
But the option was there on our WIN98 OS as well (just upgraded less than 1 year ago)When all else fails, beat the %*#$! out of it!!!

Okay. I have Office 2000, running Outlook 2000, and I do not have this option. Is this available only with Exchange perhaps?

Just learned something thru google, here it is.
So maybe not all Outlooks have it (sorry)
Recover Deleted Items in Outlook
Have you ever deleted mail from your Deleted Items folder and then wanted to retrieve it? In most cases, you can with Microsoft OutlookŪ 2000.To recover deleted items:
In the Folder list, click Deleted Items.
On the Tools menu, click Recover Deleted Items.
Click the item you want to recover. To select multiple items, click the first item, and then hold down CTRL and click additional items.
Click the Recover Selected Items button.
The items will be returned to your Deleted Items folder, and then you can move them to other folders. However, some items may no longer be recoverable if your system administrator has limited the amount of time that deleted items can be stored on the server. Also, if you have Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 or later, your administrator will need to enable this feature.
Editor's Note: This procedure only works if you've installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu, click About Microsoft Outlook. You will see "Corporate" in the About Microsoft Outlook dialog box if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.
