I signed up a new POP3 email account for work a few weeks ago with my Outlook 2002 on my home pc (i already had set up that account on my Outlook at work. On succesful account set up completion, i started receiving the "Microsoft Outlook Test Message" REPEATEDLY every minute pretty much! Its driving me crazy - i have tried deleting the account and re-setting it with no luck. Now I use a rule to send these messages directly into the deleted items folder automatically but Outlook still receives this message every minute before moving it to deleted items which slows down the program. Please help!

Could be that the message is not getting deleted off the server and every time you go to downlaod new messages, it downloads that message again. Try changing the rule you have set up so the action is to "delete from server" or "Permanaently delete". That might work.

i already have the auto detete rule set up but the message still delivers to Inbox before being deleted which causes Outlook to "hang" for a a few seconds almost every minute that the test message arrives!

There are two different types of "deletes" within the rules configuration. One deletes from Outlook, the other deletes from the server. Are you using the latter?
Also, is it the "exact" same message - same sent date and time or is it the same message, but sent multiple times.

If that is the case AND you are using the option to delete the message from the server (not just moving it to your local deleted Outlook folder), then you should contact your ISP. It sounds as if the message is just stuck int he inbox on the server and everytime you go to retrieve your email you are downloading that message over and over. Perhaps your ISP can clear it up.

The option depends on which version of Outlook you are using. The one I am using at the moment has the option "Permanantly Delete"
