Office XP supports 98 (don't know how well)As far as not having outlook express installed doesn't really pertain to your question.

When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

As far as I know, you can use any version of Office, including Office XP or Office 2003, with Windows 98SE. You can find out for sure by checking the minimum system requirements at the Microsoft website.

Best Wishes,
Bob

The best to use is office 2k, no problem in use and not a big resource eater...

Office 2003 will not run on a Win98 system and will tell you so during setup. XP is the last version you can run on 98.

Why not try something different= Open Office, it is free, compatible with all the office suites, and is found here http://www.openoffice.org/
