I doubt it has anything to do with the OS version. More likely the version of Excel that created the spreadsheet is newer then the version running on Vista and can't read the newer format. Post back the versions of Office you are running on both computers.

If you did save the spreadsheet with Office 2007 version try resaving the file but make sure you save it as "Excel 97-2003 Workbook". That will guarantee backwards compatabillity with older versions of Excel.
