Hello, I need help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have multiple worksheets withing one excel file.
My "common" data is an ID field. (This only common in about 90% of the records).
Here is what I need to do.
Here's an example of what I need to do, I just cant figure out the right formula...
In sheet 1, I have A1 value of 12345.
In Sheet 2, I have A53 value of 12345 (several thousand records). In sheet 2, I also have B1 value of 100.What I need to do is the following.
In sheet 1, I need to lookup and see if my A1 value is found anywhere at all in Sheet2, Column A. If yes, then I need to return to Sheet 1, of the value in sheet 2, column b (of the matched record).
Does this make sense?
Thanks for any help.

I believe you meant to state that in B53 you have a value of 100 and that is the value you want returned to sheet 1.
If the above is correct then click in Shhet1, cell A1, go to Excel's Formula tab and click on Insert Formula (or hit Shift+F3 to do the same thing), in the search box type in lookup and search, select VLOOKUP and the wizard will guide you.
HTH
BryanP.S. your sheet2 does not contain more than one value of '12345' right?

Correct. Thanks.(yes your assumption is correct)
After my post a did a bit more digging. The VLOOKUP is handling what I need. Some of the other posts gave me the extra information I needed to fix problem.
Thanks for the help.
