Comment:

Under 'Send to' in the context menu for a file, there appears Mail Recipient. If I click on that, it starts a complex process process involving MSOutlook. I KNOW that it is possible for Mail Recipient to just open an email in Outlook Express with the relevant file as an attachment. How can I convert the MSOutlook process to 'an email in Outlook Express' ?

You'll have to change the Default email client in Internet Explorer.

In Internet Options; Programs tab; Internet programs; O.E. is already selected for Email and even for Newsgroups. And when I
select in Internet Explorer the Tools menu; Mail & News; Read Mail; it is Outlook Exptress that opens, so I figure I.E. must consider O.E. as its default email client. Is there maybe a registry tweak that can make the difference ?

Browse to the following Reg Key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command]

On the right pane, set the default to:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"

""C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.exe" /mailurl:%1"

is what is already in the right pane

and, what's more, NOW 'mail recipient' DOES open O.E.

Much apologies for the unnecessary 'angst' !
