We are using Access XP(2002) and I have a user who puts in a record and the next time she opens the database the record is missing. She is tabing out of the record field when she is done entering the record data.

I would sit down with her and actually watch the process she's going through. Is she the only one who has access to the database?

She is the only one who uses this database. The problem is random and I'm unable to get it to repeat when I want it to.

With Acces you don't Save anything.
Everytime you add a record it is saved. So, either the record was added or it was not added to the particular database.
Giving the benefit of doubt perhaps the record was input to another database rather than not all all.

Exactly my point, Bryan. :) You always get it right on the dot...
Liz, that's why my suggestion to sit with the user while she actually does the data entry.

This is a department that consist of only one person. She has only the one database. I did a text search for one of the missing records and it didn't show up that way either. What she does is enter several new records. Run a query to pull out certain records and then does a mailmerge with this query. When she returns to this database at a later time sometimes some of the previously used records will be missing.

K. Question. What does the query do with the dataset after running? Perhaps the query is the problem.
