lines don't display in excel graph

hi !!! I made a graph out of an excel tab. a simple graph: 2 series of points linked by a straight line... the problem is, I can't get any line to display !!!! I tried right clicking on the points to check the "line options", its all ok, they SHOULD appear !!! but they don't... :( (neither do they print, of course) any idea ?? thanks

PS: Office XP (Excel 2002) updated to sp3, but won't solve problem

Summary: Well, one way around it would be to write your own sorting algorithm, then apply the resultant sort order to all the linked sheets. ie. Don't use the Excel auto sort. It would rely heavily on the link...
