inserting huperlink in outlook 03

hi, Im wanting to inserting hyperlinks into my emails so that staff are able to just click the link and open up the chosen file!
But when i go to the HYPERLINK option, it asks me to enter in the appropriate path! it also has a drop down box which shows what type of area you are wanting this hyperlink to be attached to... e.g http://, file etc.
The problem is that i want to be able to select the file by searching and selecting on the network!
I checked this out on another computer on the network and it seemed to work fine, so i'm guessing there must be an option that needs changing to fix.
