I have a friend who just called and said that he inserted a pic in a Word file and it's not showing except in print preview. He wants to be able to manipulate the picture from within Word, but all that is showing is a big white box. He doesn't know what, if anything, he did to Word to make this happen. Any thoughts?

Going into the "Tools" menu, selecting "Options" and making sure that on the "View" tab that "Picture Placeholders" is unchecked fixed the problem. Thanks to John Steven on the VirtualDr forum for this info.

Hi - this "now-you-see-me-now-you-don't" [feature] of Word is happening for me too - I checked Tools, Options settings and the "Picture Placeholders" box is already unchecked. Previewing the doc brings the picture back, but only for as long as image is on screen - if I shift-tab out of Word, or even page down then back again, the image disappears again....! Crazily, when I right-click on document (not on the object itself) and select "Translate" from the shortcut menu, this has the same effect as Previewing. Haven't come across this before in Word - a bit awkward for those necessary screen-dump pics!
