A problem has recently started that received e-mails, once read, disappear from the inbox as soon as Outlook is closed & reopened. If the mails haven't been read they are ok. They do not go to any of the other folders and they do not appear in the deleted items folder. There were no rules set. I have temporarily created a rule to copy all e-mails to a new folder and these are not affected. I've done a repair on Office to no effect. I found one post which mentioned this in 2004 but with no solution stated. Haven't yet scanned for malware/viruses but that will be the next stage I guess. Any ideas anyone?

In Outlook, go to View, Arrange By, Current View. Make sure you don't have the checkmark next to "Unread messages In This Folder". Put the checkmark next to Messages or Messages with AutoPreview if you prefer.
