importing .pst files

I have a copy of Outlook XP installed on my computer, and I know how to import .pst files. My question is, I have 3 different .pst files I want to import into Outlook (from 3 of my old accounts) - how can I import them and keep it organized? I tried to make a folder, like "account 1" and then select the option that says "import items into the current folder" during the import process, but it still put the messages into different folders (i.e inbox, deleted items, etc) messing things up. how can I do this?
