Comment: I'm looking for a neat way to import an odd text file into Access 2000. The text file is a list of fixed width records and Access has no trouble importing it. The problem is that the file contains multiple records per client, in order by client, but only prints the ClientID in the first record. The next few records refer to the same client, but the ClientID field is empty. I need to carry the ClientID value down to the following records until the a record is encountered that has a ClientID already (this indicates the beginning of the next client's records). Any suggestions?
