imap connect keeps failing

Specs: Windows 7, 16G
I'm trying to connect to an IMAP server using my account to my ISP, from which I can connect to using the Webmail client.

I DO know the right password, but when using Thunderbird he keeps stating he cannot connect. I've reduced the cached connections to 1, and I've flushed my DNS, restarted computer, etc..

Still the same. Contacted ISP as well, waiting response there.

What type of connection does your provider offer, to connect to your IMAP account?
IMAP (port 143)
IMAPS (port 993)

What kind of error do you get.
Maybe you have to use SSL/TLS or STARTTLS for authentication.
