I can't open words/excel files

I installed Snow Leopard to my Macbook and have trouble opening words/excel files. My son, who also has Macbook and installed Office at the same time as I did has no trouble at all. Whenever I tried to open these files, the message, 'Microsoft trial is expired and do you want to uninstall? I did as was told, but I keep getting the same message. My knowledge is limited in this area. Could somebody help me?

it very easy ok just noted the day you install the program, take your backup and restore your system back to some days back before you installed that very software.
