Specs: Windows 7, Pentium 4 2GHz / 4 gigs.
After the Windows 2000 installation from above of the old version, I can't find a contact list in Outlook Express 6. I returned old letters back. Found the file with the extension .wab, but after importing it into Outlook Express, the contact list is still empty.
Thanks in advance!

As I recall it there is a proper inbuilt "Export - Import facility" with OE. I might be wrong but I don't think this involved handling wab files.

However, if you are using wab files then you have to use them to replace the original "boxes" individually. For example, you replace the empty Inbox.dbx file with the original full one and this box must have an identical name. I trust this is what you were doing? Bear in mind that if you double click a dbx file from within the file system (outside email) it always looks empty. Also if you replace a dbx file then that box will only show the imported (old) emails.

Sorry if all this is obvious but I just wanted to make sure.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

To recover WAB file, follow these steps.
Close Outlook Express.
Click Start, select Find, then Files and folders.
In the Name box, type *.wab and click Find. Rename the current file with the WAB expansion in the folder of the address book.
