i cannot open PDF files on my laptop

Specs: Windows 2000

I am running WIN2000 and somehow my Adobe Reader 7.0 is gone. I have tried to re- install it, but it will not install. I cannot open any PDF files....Any suggestions? UGH!!!! PLEASE HELP!
