I am trying to create a conditional countdown

May 13, 2011 at 20:21:57
Specs: Macintosh
Using MS EXCEL 2010

I have =TODAY() in cell B44, in cell B46 is a qualification expiration date, I would like cell B47 to display a 0 if cell B46 is empty and display positive and negative values if B46 has a date in it.

NOTE: In cell B45 is the qualification date, but I'm not using it in any formulas.

If B46 represents a negative value, I would like it displayed as well.

I currently have =(B46 - TODAY()) - 2 which is displaying the values correctly when I input a date, but if there is no date in cell B46 it returns -40679. I want this value to read 0 when no date condition exists.

Try this:

=IF(B46="","",(B46-TODAY())-2)

I want this value to read 0 when no date condition exists.

=IF(B46="",0,(B46-TODAY())-2)

Wow! Worked like a champ! I knew I needed an IF statement, just couldn't figure it out.

Thanks a lot mmcconaghy! You're on the Christmas list! :-)

Always wanted something that "went zip when it moved and pop when it stopped,
Whirrr when it stood still" ........

Glad I could help.
