Hp Scanner and software help

I have an HP scanner that came with HP Photosmart premiere. I run Windows XP on a PC. It scans, but will not transfer the photo into Photosmart. It says "an unhandled exception has occured in a component in your application. Click continue and application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object" Clicking continue does nothing. or sometimes just for fun it says "Out of disk space volume N" It seems I have 2 problems?
