how to repair corrupted word doc?

"the document name or path is not valid" is a very common message that you get when the header is corrupt in the document. It doesn't mean it cannot find the file, it just means it can't read the file (very missleading IMHO).
You can find many programs for repairing Word docs but most of them cost. It depends how much you want to spend for retreiving the data.
You can also try to fix it yourself. Open the file in WordPad. The formatting will be wrong but at least you can get to the text. At the beginning of the document you will see unreadable text. That will be the header. Delete that text then save as RTF format. You can now open up the document and reformat it in Word.
