my "Word 2000" broke down and now just displays
on the whole screen, but format ing features and symbols are missing, how can reset the default
setting.

Call me clueless, but I still don't know what you want to accomplish. I could guess and say you just want a user information database. Is that correct? If so, you could use a table, or even better, use Access.
