How to get excel to automate data

Specs: Windows XP

Can someone please help me with my monthly report? I need to have the new monthly data automatically update and have the previous month archive. At the moment my data sheet is operating by =IF(month=current month,vlookup(data)). As a result I have to manually cut and value paste the previous month data before starting the new month. which some time I forgot to do (and it throw out my YTD cummulative data).

There's no way we can answer your question without more information.

We don't know what the data looks like, how it is laid out, calculated, etc.

sorry... let me try to clerify it
I have data in Sheet1 which get updated every month with the below lay out

Product A 100
Product B 50
Product C 75

Now Sheet 2 is the summary sheet with YTD cummulative values per mth

Jan Feb Mar Apr .... Dec.... YTD
Product A 50 100 150
Product B 30 75 105

In each month I had put in the IF and VLookup formula where if the month in Sheet 1 equal the month in Sheet 2 excel would return the value from sheet one for each products. at the end of each month i have to cut and value paste the previous month data before manually changing to the new month otherwise the previous month data will be blank (hence Jan - Dec contain the same formula). and i'm just wondering if there is anyway we can get excel to automatically update the new month data at the same time keeping the previous month data without easing it?
