When I open a new WordPad I always want to have the same settings: font, paragraph, line spacing, etc.

When you open a new WordPad (wordpad.exe) it should always have the same settings. If you are opening an existing document in WordPad it will carry forward the settings already contained in the document.

Thanks Derek,

I finally found wordpad.exe, using Glary quick search. I entered my settings, set it to read-only and put it on the desktop. It works just fine.

I have not been able to find any definitive info on how to use your website. It must be there somewhere! I use wp a lot and have a dozen or so easy questions that I haven't been able to find answers to anywhere. I would appreciate some help from you guys. Can you suggest how I should go about this? All at once, one at a time, to the group, to a person?

Thanks again,

✔ Best Answer
Best ask one question at a time because different helpers choose questions that suit their own experiences. Just decide which is the most appropriate forum and pop your question, as you did on here. You chose the right forum for Word, Excel and the like.

As helpers are volunteers who do this in their spare time it is best not to address a question to a particular person. You never know when that particular person will be available - we just drop by and muck in, as and when. You can of-course do exactly the same if/when you feel able, which is the way most regulars started on here.

You have your own personal space and, to save clicking around, this link will take you to yours:
I prefer to use that as my jumping off point but everyone to their own.

You will see there is a "Private Message Center" there but this is just used for short messages person to person. Questions are asked and answered on the forum because the results can benefit others.

I don't know of any guide to using the website - I guess most folk just click around to find things. If someone knows different they will probably pipe up.

Glad to hear you sorted your problem and thanks for popping back to let us know.

Further to #5 above. I was being rather general - assuming your queries might cover various computer issues. If you have a bunch of queries which are all related to WordPad in particular then by all means group a few together. Probably 2 or 3 at a time, which avoids a very long post that might put folk off a bit.

Hope that's more clear.

re: You never know when that particular person will be available - we just drop by and muck in, as and when.

Please speak for yourself. I am so dedicated to this site that I have alerts set up on my cell phone, iPad, work desktop and home desktop. I know when each and every post hits this site.

I also pay an Answering Service to monitor the site and send me a text whenever a post is made. These texts are cc'd to my wife and kids who all forward them back to me to make sure that I am aware of the posts. If they neglect to forward the text in a immediate manner, they are subject to punitive actions.

As an added measure, I invented a dedicated Bluetooth headset that sends an constant electrical shock into my temples until I acknowledge each and every post on the website.

I am disappointed that you do not have the same level of dedication to that some of us do.

I will now get back to what I was bzzzttt doing bzzzt before bzttt bzzztt I felt the bzzzttt need to respond bzzztt to your bzztt comment.

bzzztzzzttzzztt Ouch...that one hurt.

Cripes - for a moment I scanned your response very fast, therefore missing your joke. You nearly got a rude one back LOL.

I shall now attempt to obtain all the bodily attachments so that I can match your dedication. I won't detail their actual placement.
