Hi ya....

I hope I can explain what I need so you people can understand just exactly what Im trying to do. So, here goes. I'm new to using Word, actually new to the whole Office software thing. What I need to figure out is how do I make a general template in Word and also where I can just hit my "Tab" button so I can jump directly to the certian areas that need filled in in the document? I have stacks of job proposals that read pretty much all the same except for the persons address and amount of the job...dollar wise. Right now the way it stands I have an original of every bid, and I have to type a copy of each individual one so I can mail them out. I just want to be able to enter certian info on an already exisiting template of the job bids. I do hope this makes enough sense that someone will be able to steer me in the right direction! Thank you for any positive feedback!!

Vanna

Best way is having a mailing .
In a excel or word document, have ur list of fields, i mean on first line Name;adress;adress2;amount (";" is a field separator available in word, in excel it's a row for each field)
and on the lines just down those titles u fill up with ur infos.Save.
In ur "model" letter, u choose tool/mailing and u follow the guide...that's done. If needed ask for a sample...

What you want to do is set up with forms.

Launch Word and go to View, Toolsbars, Forms. Now go ahead and type out your text and at the point your want your cursor to jump to when you hit the tab key, click on the "text form field" button in the forms toolbar (the icon will say AB on it). This will put a grey text box there. Continue your document and put in the text form field wherever you want the cursor to jump to. When you're done, go to File, Save As, and save it as a .dot file. This will now be your template.

Those are good suggestions. What I would do though, is create a very simple Access database that contains all the data.
