How can I open a file named 34DB.tmp in excel

May 19, 2011 at 10:22:54
Specs: Windows Vista
I opened an excel file attached in Outlook calendar invite, made changes to the file, forgot it was coming from Outlook, pressed save repeatedly as I made changes but when Outlook prompted me to save changes there I declined. I can see my temp files and changes (like every 10 mintues) and want to to try to open one of these in an attempt to recover the changes made but not saved in Outlook. (I thought I was saving to a disk drive). Can this be done?

I'm confused.

If I open an Excel file (.xls) that is attached to a Outlook calendar invitation, it saves the changes as a .xls file.

It saves it in a folder under blah..blah..user_name...Local Settings...Temporary Internet Files named OLKxx. (Open an attachment and choose Save As. It should be set to to save it in the OLKxx folder.)

It also changes the attachment, so that if I open the attachment from the invitation, all of the saved changes are there.
