By 'images' do you mean scanned pages of text? In which case you need an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program. Usually come bundled with your scanner, or you may be able to download a limited version from the manufacturer's website. Put OCR into Google & you'll find loads of links to commercial & a few freeware programs.

as a picture), then you need an OCR program.In Office 2003 (and later, I think) is a program called
"Microsoft Office Document Imaging".
It can extract text to Word.
But your pictures must be in .mdi or .tiff format.
