I either want to direct cable my laptop (toshiba satellite cs110) and move office across to it from my pc (no cd drive in laptop) or split word components (Word from office 97)and transfer them via floppy. Only problem with this is that when i split and reform, i keep getting messages to install various dlls and etc - and it could go on forever. Any suggestions?

A few issues here...
How much RAM in the Tosh???...and how much HD space available???If you are running Office 97, have 16mg RAM or more and at least 400meg of HD space, you should not have any problems...
BUT...I don't think you can do it with floppies...
Couple ideas...Can you get it on a network???
Stick in a PCMCIA card, get a crossover cable and attach it to the NIC card of another computer WITH a CD drive...then share the CD drive and you can load Off97 directly from the other computer...OR...get a Zip drive, attach it to the Tosh, transfer from another computer Off97 to a Zip disk and install from there...
It can be done...I have 2 old Tosh satellites 2110's, 486's with 20meg ram and 800meg HD's and they both run Office 97...and reasonably fast...
Good luck
Steve

16Mg of ram and 1/2Gb hard drive. Problem with getting it on a network is the compnents aren't installed and the problem with PCMCIA card is that i haven't got one and want to do it on the cheap...Because Word is so small I CAN transfer it on 3 or 4 floppies, spli, and then reform it (and it looks ok - same size as on the pc) and the icon looks ok..I think it won't run becuse it requires office components. I've tried DCC a couple of times and it always buggers up. Thanks for your post anyway

You could get this shareware trial download Link Maven and go to radio shack and buy a laplink crossover cable.

All these posts are great ideas but, none of them will work. If you need to transfer data you would be fine however you cannot transfer Office from one computer to another. You need to run the install program for Office and let it install all the dll's, registry modifications, etc.
