Specs: Windows 7
I have been strugling with a problem and would like some help if possible.

I have 3 columns.
A, D and E
E contains the concatenation of A and D,

A could be xx and D could be yy or either could be a blank.

IF both are blank Column E would be blank

IF only D is populated E would show the content of D
If both A and D are populated the E would show D (A) That is D and A are concatenated with a bracket around column A's content.

Title maybe confusing I meant cells not rows

re: A could be xx and D could be yy or either could be a blank.

You haven't told us what you want if D is blank but A is populated.

Hi

This should be blank but it should never happen.

Thanks

Since you say that "A populated, D blank" should never happen, I didn't deal with it.

Try this:

=IF(AND(A1="", D1=""), "", IF(A1="", D1, D1 & "(" & A1 & ")" ))
